Welcome to the Ballroom Competition Team. There will be several competitions throughout the year, and hopefully everyone can compete as much as possible. The purpose of the following policies is to ensure that club funds are spent fairly. The club will reward team members who abide by these policies by paying for competitions (entry fee, transportation, and lodging). Otherwise, team members are welcome to attend the competitions, but at their own cost.

  1. In order for the club to pay for competitions (entry fee, transportation, and lodging), a team member is required to attend all appropriate classes. This means that if you compete:
    • International only, you need to come to practice on the weekends and Mondays. Exact dates and times TBA.
    • American only, you need to come to at least 1 hr of Social class on Thursdays (either Beginner or Advanced; you do not need to come to the same class every Thursday) and 1 competition class on Wednesdays - either bronze or silver.
    • Both International and American, you need to come to International lessons, practice on Wednesdays (bronze or silver), and 1 hr on Thursdays (either Beginner or Advanced).

  2. In order for the club to pay for competitions (entry fee, transportation, and lodging), a team member is only allowed to miss the following number of sessions:
    • International only - 2 classes
    • American only - 4 classes (Wednesdays & Thursdays)
    • International and American - 6 classes (Wednesdays, Thursdays, & weekends).

  3. Missed classes can be made up by attending Sunday practices or additional Social classes.

  4. Please talk to or email the President or Vice President prior to class if you will be missing class.

The assessment of missed classes can be challenged on a case-by-case basis. This action should only be considered in a case of extreme circumstances and will be determined by a panel of Clay, the President, and Vice President.
